Rural Blood Bankers Are a Different Breed

LEAVE BLOOD BANK REAGENTS OUT ALL DAY AT A VERY BUSY HOSPITAL NO ONE BATS AN EYE. LEAVE BLOOD BANK REAGENTS OUT A A RURAL HOSPITAL EVERYONE LOSES THEIR MINDS

I don't believe our racks are ever put away. Maybe that's simply because of our higher testing rate so the vials get used up quicker than a rural blood bank. The package insert does say to store at 1-10degC when "not in use", but what is considered not in use?? As soon as you're done? Within an hour? Within a shift?? I guess mandatory daily QC is a good way to mediate this.

What's going to happen? Is the Anti-D reagent going to disintegrate? Everyone's suddenly Rh negative?? RhoGAM for everyone!
